Indonesia developing GPS-guided rocket



Jakarta (MI) : Indonesia is developing the R-Han 122, an indigenous 15 km-range 122 mm ground-launched Global Positioning System (GPS)-guided rocket, the Director of Planning and Development for Indonesian state arms manufacturer PT Pindad, Wahyu Utomo, told the press during the recent Indonesian Army (TNI AD) Weapons Exhibition held at the National Monument in Jakarta.He described the development of the rocket as being "in the finishing stage" and said that development work was also being carried out on a launcher. The rocket is due to enter service with the TNI AD in 2015, followed two years later by the new launcher.




The rocket is being developed by a consortium that, in addition to Pindad, includes the state-owned explosives manufacturer PT Dahana, the Ministry for Research and Technology, and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology.
